Panicked Pregnant Lady

26 weeks pregnant.  It blows my mind.  And makes me break out in a nervous sweat!

Why?  Because I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DONE.

Ok, ok.  The nursery walls are painted.  The crib is put together.  We have a dresser ordered which will be in next Friday.  We have a bassinet for which my granny is furiously sewing new sheets and bedding for.  Oh, and I bought a rug for the nursery.  We do have a rug.

But the list of things we don’t have is endless!  A rocker/glider.  Crib bedding.  A name for this child.  And pretty much anything else baby related.

I had a tiny meltdown last weekend because I felt like we were just so unprepared.  We only have 14 weeks left, maybe, unless he decides to come sooner.  14 weeks is plenty of time, but somehow feels like it’s no time at all!

My shower is coming up on November 2nd, and we are waiting to see what all we get before we make any big purchases.  So really, I shouldn’t be panicking just yet.  Except for the fact that I still need to register for this shower.  The thought overwhelms me because while I feel like we don’t have anything, I have no idea where to start and what we DO need!  But, I plan to have the registering done this weekend nonetheless.

I had my 1 hour glucose test on Tuesday.  It wasn’t good (the sugary drink) but I gulped it down like a champ.  I realized yesterday that my doctor’s office hasn’t called me with the results yet.  I’m not sure how long it takes for them to get the results back, but in the past I’ve always gotten a phone call with lab results the next day.  So I’m hoping I passed, but I’m going to call on Monday to find out for sure.

While I was in for my checkup, Dr. L raved about how amazing I’ve done with this pregnancy.  We’ve gotten over hurdle after hurdle, and with all the complications we were afraid we’d be facing due to my history and trouble getting pregnant/staying pregnant in the past, we’ve pretty much had a normal healthy pregnancy so far.  He told me he would see me again in 4 weeks, and by that time I’ll be 30 weeks along and only 9 weeks from delivery time.  After that I’ll see him every 2 weeks until we deliver.  It’s pretty exciting and scary at the same time!

The 2nd trimester has FLOWN by!

Baby Nugget – Weeks 25 & 26!

Sooo…I’m a little behind on my updates again.  Better late than never, right??  Here we go!

Week 25:

Baby is the size of a cauliflower!  Your baby measures about 13.6 inches to 14.8 inches and weighs somewhere between 1.5 to 2.2 pounds.  During week 25, baby’s nervous system is rapidly developing, and he’s enjoying his new sense of equilibrium – knowing which way is up and which is down.  Plus, he’s growing more hair too!  Will he have Mommy’s hair color?  Daddy’s hair color? Or a different color altogether?  The suspense of what baby will look like is building!
Week 26:
Baby is the size of a head of lettuce!  He is still growing in the 13.6- to 14.8-inch and 1.5- to 2.5-pound range, and while his eyes are still forming during week 26, they’ll open soon.  Hello, baby!  His eyelashes have grown in, too, and he’s getting his immune system ready for the outside world by getting antibodies from you.  Plus, baby’s little lungs are starting to produce surfactant, the fatty substance that coats the inside lining of the lungs’ tiny air sacs, helping them to expand during breathing.  And his skin has developed its color as well, because his body is now making melanin.

How far along? 26 weeks

Total weight gain: +3lbs…although I feel like I’ve gained 50 most days!

Maternity clothes? I have some jeans but haven’t really worn them yet. I’m still in my same scrubs at work, although they are beginning to get just a little snug.

Stretch marks?  No new ones.

Sleep:  I’ve gotten some REALLY good night’s sleep this week! It’s been amazing!

Miss Anything? Energy.

Movement:  Oh, yes 🙂

Anything making you queasy or sick: Morning sickness is back. Nothing in particular triggers it.

Gender prediction: Sweet baby boy!

Labor Signs:  No, thank you.

Belly Button in or out?  In.

Wedding rings on or off?  They fit.

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Pretty happy! And tired.

Looking forward to:  Fall! The weather is beginning to cool down (still in the 80′s but that’s a cool down where I live haha) and I can’t wait for Fall to be in full swing!

Next appointment:  October 22nd.  I’m be 30 weeks! Yikes!

Baby Nugget – 24 Weeks!

Things are trucking right along!  It’s so crazy how fast the weeks seem to be going by.  Part of that is the fact that the last few weeks have been absolutely CRAZY at work.  I’m so exhausted by the time I get home I eat, shower, and jump in bed.  No joke, I was in bed at 7:00 Thursday night.  I was SO tired.  I was at work from 6:30am until almost 5pm, and I stood on my feet for 7 1/2 hours straight in surgery that morning.  I’m not sure how much longer my body or my baby are going to let me have days like that.

In other news, Morning Sickness has reared it’s ugly head again!  I thought I was well past this, but the last couple weeks I’ve been getting sick after waking up in the morning.  Thank goodness it only seems to be morning sickness and doesn’t last all throughout the day like it did earlier in my pregnancy.  Still, I’d rather it go away again!

Alright, here we go with the usual update!

Baby is the size of a cantaloupe!  At week 24, your baby’s see-through skin is gradually becoming less translucent and is starting to look more opaque, like your own, but with the beauty of a new pink glow, thanks to the small capillaries that have recently formed.  Plus, he’s getting heavier and now weighs 12.7 to 20.8 ounces.  He’s 10.5 to 11.8 inches long now, too — nearly an entire foot!  There’s a lot happening inside baby as well, and while his lungs have developed, they couldn’t work outside of the womb yet.  But the fact that his lungs are fully formed means that he’s closer to being ready to survive (and thrive!) in the outside world!

How far along? 24 weeks (This is considered Viability Day, or Vday, meaning that most medical
professionals would attempt to use intensive medical intervention to save the
life of the baby if it is born on this day or after.  A nice milestone, but
baby boy needs to keep on cookin’!)

Total weight gain: +2lbs according to my scale this morning! Whoa! When did that happen?!

Maternity clothes? Still trying to find the right ones…

Stretch marks?  No new ones.

Sleep:  Can’t get enough.

Best moment this week: I’ve been too tired for anything exciting to happen.

Miss Anything? Sleep.

Movement:  He has been moving A LOT this week! I love it!

Food cravings:  Milk. Ice cold milk. Movie theater popcorn.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I’ve thrown up two mornings this week. Not a happy pregnant lady. Go away morning sickness!

Baby Nugget – 23 Weeks!

Quick update today! The weeks seem to be flying by now 🙂

Baby is the size of a grapefruit!  {I have given up on understanding the
fruit comparison at this point…}  At 23 weeks, your baby is getting bigger.
He’s about 10.5 to 11.8 inches long and weighs 12.7 to 20.8 ounces.  Plus,
he’s getting cuter!  Ears start to develop and his face and eyes are forming.
{I think they mean he is developing fat to fill out his skin…}  He’s
more aware, too, and is listening to your voice and your heartbeat, as well as
loud sounds, such as cars honking and dogs barking.  You may also feel your baby
move when he hears something familiar.

How far along? 23 weeks

Total weight gain: -1lb last I checked. Starting to gain a little!

Maternity clothes? Still trying to find the right ones…

Stretch marks?  No new ones.

Sleep:  Can’t get enough.

Best moment this week: I’ve been too tired for anything exciting to happen.

Miss Anything? Sleeping through the night. Not being nonstop exhausted.

Movement:  Yes, and a lot of it. Baby boy is most active around 9-9:30 at night, right about the time I’m winding down and ready to go to sleep!

Food cravings:  Milk. Ice cold milk. Movie theater popcorn.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I’ve thrown up two mornings this week. Not a happy pregnant lady. Go away morning sickness!
