Baby Nugget – 32 Weeks

Look at this, guys!  An update that is semi on time!  It’s a miracle!

I had my 32 week checkup on Tuesday and everything is fantastic.  We did our final ultrasound, but couldn’t get a very good look, even with the 4D because of his position and the placenta and the cord were in the way.  He’s already head down and low and ready to go!  He weighs 4lbs 3oz right now, which blows my mind!  He’s in the 50th percentile for growth and right on track for where he should be.  Dr. L told me everything is looking great.  Everything is NORMAL.  To which I replied with a smile, “I’ve never been normal!”  And he said, “I know, kid, it’s great!”

He’s asked at my last 2 appointments how long I plan on working.  I’ve told him I guess as long as I can.  Right now we are both healthy and not in any danger.  But it is getting more and more difficult to stand on my feet for 8 hours a day, so he told me when I was ready he could write me a note recommending half days for the duration of my pregnancy.  That might be coming in the next few weeks.

Here’s one the halfway decent ultrasound shots we got of his sweet little face.  Our ultrasound tech, Jill, says he looks like me!  He does have my chubby cheeks, full lips, and maybe even my nose!  Daddy might be out of luck on this one! 😉

32 Weeks!

32 Weeks!

Oh, and I took another bump pic today!  Here’s my 32 week 3 days bump!

Ok, on with my usual update…

Baby is the size of a squash!  At week 32, your baby weighs in at about 2.5
to 3.8 pounds and measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches.
{Although, the app on
my phone says that baby averages 19 inches and 4.5 pounds…so obviously there
is some discrepancy at this point.}  He’s likely to be in the head-down
position now, getting ready for his descent — the journey down the birth canal.
And not a minute too soon, because at this point, he’s probably feeling even
more cramped inside Mommy.

How far along? 32 weeks (and 3 days)

Total weight gain: According to my last Dr’s appt +12lbs.  And 4lbs of that is baby! Dr. L is still very happy with my weight gain.

Maternity clothes? My scrubs still fit so I’m still wearing those to work. I did buy some maternity leggings that are WAY comfy and get worn with tunics or long shirts. (That’s what I’m wearing in the bump pic above!)

Stretch marks?  No new ones.

Sleep:  Getting rough at night. Turning from one side to the other takes a LOT of effort and I do it several times a night.

Best moment this week: I had a couple of baby showers this week.  I plan to do a post on those.  For the most part they were FANTASTIC.  But I had a few disappointments, which may just be my sensitive pregnancy feelings getting hurt too easily.  More on that later.  (and to my friend, M, who threw my Lil’ Pumpkin shower…no worries, YOU and your shower you threw were NOT the disappointments I’m talking about! Love you!)

Miss Anything? Sleeping on my stomach.

Movement:  All the time!

Food cravings:   Christmas Tree Cakes.  Cosmic Brownies.  My aunt’s homemade taco pizza that I’ve been begging her to cook for me!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Morning sickness is back. Nothing in particular triggers it. If I take a Pepcid before I go to bed that seems to help some.

Gender prediction: Sweet baby boy!

Labor Signs:  I’ve been having Braxton Hicks the last couple weeks.

Symptoms:  Fatigue, bloat/gas, VERY frequent urination. Occasional round ligament pain. Sciatic nerve pain. Heartburn and indigestion. Shortness of breath. Morning sickness. Dizziness/lightheadedness. Braxton Hicks.

Belly Button in or out?  In, but it looks weird.

Wedding rings on or off?  They fit.

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Pretty happy! And tired.  And cranky a lot.

Looking forward to:  Umm…Thanksgiving!

Next appointment:  November 19th, I’ll be 34 weeks!

Panicked Pregnant Lady

26 weeks pregnant.  It blows my mind.  And makes me break out in a nervous sweat!

Ok, ok.  The nursery walls are painted.  The crib is put together.  We have a dresser ordered which will be in next Friday.  We have a bassinet for which my granny is furiously sewing new sheets and bedding for.  Oh, and I bought a rug for the nursery.  We do have a rug.

But the list of things we don’t have is endless!  A rocker/glider.  Crib bedding.  A name for this child.  And pretty much anything else baby related.

I had a tiny meltdown last weekend because I felt like we were just so unprepared.  We only have 14 weeks left, maybe, unless he decides to come sooner.  14 weeks is plenty of time, but somehow feels like it’s no time at all!

My shower is coming up on November 2nd, and we are waiting to see what all we get before we make any big purchases.  So really, I shouldn’t be panicking just yet.  Except for the fact that I still need to register for this shower.  The thought overwhelms me because while I feel like we don’t have anything, I have no idea where to start and what we DO need!  But, I plan to have the registering done this weekend nonetheless.

I had my 1 hour glucose test on Tuesday.  It wasn’t good (the sugary drink) but I gulped it down like a champ.  I realized yesterday that my doctor’s office hasn’t called me with the results yet.  I’m not sure how long it takes for them to get the results back, but in the past I’ve always gotten a phone call with lab results the next day.  So I’m hoping I passed, but I’m going to call on Monday to find out for sure.

While I was in for my checkup, Dr. L raved about how amazing I’ve done with this pregnancy.  We’ve gotten over hurdle after hurdle, and with all the complications we were afraid we’d be facing due to my history and trouble getting pregnant/staying pregnant in the past, we’ve pretty much had a normal healthy pregnancy so far.  He told me he would see me again in 4 weeks, and by that time I’ll be 30 weeks along and only 9 weeks from delivery time.  After that I’ll see him every 2 weeks until we deliver.  It’s pretty exciting and scary at the same time!

The 2nd trimester has FLOWN by!

Once again my 21 week update will be making a late appearance.  But this time its not my fault! Our Internet has kicked the bucket. Sad days, friends! The cable guy will be out tomorrow to determine if our modem went out or if its a problem in the cable or splitter. Until then, I’m typing this post on my phone, so it will be a quick one!

Nothing huge to update on this week. I had planned to make an “annoying bump buddy” post but it will have to wait until our internet is up and running because I have a lot to say. I’ve somehow gained almost 2 pounds this week and I have to say I feel every ounce! I still dont think I look pregnant, but I’m starting to feel huge. I can’t even bend over to tie my shoe without getting out of breath.

In other exciting news, I’m attending my very dear friend’s adoption shower today! This is the first baby shower I’m actually happy to be attending since I first started trying to get pregnant. They should be approved for placement very soon and I am so hoping they get their take home baby (or babies!) soon after! 🙂

Ok. Time for this pregnant lady to crawl outta bed and get cleaned up. Still have gifts to wrap for the shower, and I’ve got to find something to wear…ugh.  Hopefully my regular update will be up soon!

Yet ANOTHER Pregnancy Announcement

Really, Universe? REALLY???

Two weeks ago I posted about my cousin’s impromptu baby announcement on Thanksgiving.  Today, at my company Christmas party, I got another one.

It was shaping up to be a fantastic day.  Half a day in clinic, then down by the river for the party. Super cozy holiday atmospere.  Record player playing old Christmas tunes in the background. A traditional Christmas feast catered in, which turned out to be WAY better than the italian food we’d had for the last 3 years at these things.

So, we’re in the line for the food, served up all buffet style. I’m piling on some mashed potatoes when I hear one of the doctors I work for yell out, “Preggers is holding up the line!” Of course, my super sonic infertile radar goes up at the mention of the word ‘preggers’ and I’m glancing around like what the–

So yeah. THAT’S how I found out that yet ANOTHER girl that I work with is pregnant. AGAIN. I think I’ve mentioned before that I’ve had to suffer through 4 baby showers at work since we’ve been TTC. Well, this girl was one of them! When we started trying in October 2010, she announced shortly after that that she was pregnant with her second child. Yes, second. That means this one is her THIRD. THIRD! Um, selfish much?? I mean, the two girls that I’ve had to watch walk around the office being pregnant for the last nine months have both finally delivered. Now I’m in for another nine months of baby bumps being shoved in my face every day? Holy sweet baby Jesus.

I hate that this blog is basically one big long bitch fest one right after another, but REALLY?

I really hope I’m being set up for some HUGE payoff in the end. Because if not, eff you, Universe.
